37th Annual Christmas in Salem House Tour

December 2-4, 2016
37th Annual Christmas in Salem House Tour
Christmas in Salem, thought to be the nation’s longest running holiday house tour, invites visitors to tour historic homes in the Salem Common neighborhood from December 2–4, 2016. Homes will be beautifully decorated for the holiday season set to the theme of Carol on the Common and will be open for tours throughout the weekend.

The Preview Candlelight Tour (for advance ticket holders only) will be held on Friday, December 2, 2016, from 5:30–8:30 pm and will feature selected homes. On Saturday, December 3 from 10:30 am–4:30 pm and Sunday, December 4 from 11:30 am–4:30 pm all sites will be open for tours.

Christmas in Salem has become far more than a house tour. It’s now a citywide event for both residents and out-of-town visitors. There are local attractions, walking tours, live music, and hotel discounts available for all tour goers. In 2016, there will also be a few new surprises to add to the festive atmosphere.

This year marks the 37th anniversary of Historic Salem, Inc.’s largest fundraiser. Always held the first weekend in December, Christmas in Salem is a wonderful opportunity to visit one of the region’s most storied city. Christmas in Salem encourages tour goers to enjoy everything the city has to offer, including local restaurants and shops during the holiday season. A complimentary trolley takes visitors from downtown parking locations to the tour route, providing historical information and a festive ride that will get everyone in the holiday spirit.

Advance prices are $30 each for Historic Salem, Inc., Historic New England and Creative Salem members and $35 each for the general public. Tickets may be purchased in advance beginning on Monday, September 26, 2016, by visiting ChristmasinSalem.org or by calling Historic Salem, Inc. at 978.745.0799. Deadline for advance ticket sales is Thursday, December 1 at 5 pm.Tickets for the house tours can be purchased at the Hawthorne Hotel at 18 Washington Square W, on December 3 and 4 for $40 each.

Christmas in Salem is presented by Historic Salem, Inc. an advocacy group dedicated to preserving Salem’s historic resources and educating the community to their value. The historic house tour and other fundraising efforts of Historic Salem, Inc. are the primary source of funds for the restoration of the National Historic Landmark, the Nathaniel Bowditch House.
