Sen. John Kean's Annual Holiday Open House, circa 1905
December 8-22, 2007 |
Liberty Hall Museum at Kean University has magically recreated the annual Holiday Open House parties that were hosted by Sen. John Kean, circa 1905. For three nights, December 8, 15 and 22, visitors will get an upfront look at how Christmas was celebrated during the Victorian era. They are invited to join in with the caroling in the Parlor, take waltzing lessons in the Great Hall and enjoy a one-act, turn-of-the-19th-century play in the Library, while being escorted by costumed museum staff.
One-hour tours are scheduled every 15 minutes from 5 to 8 pm. Prepaid reservations are required and may be made by calling the museum at 908-527-0400. Admission for this event is $10 for adults; $8 senior citizens; $5 for college students with valid ID; $4 for children, ages 6-17. |
