Victorian Christmas Tours at the Historic Adams House

November 28 - December 15, 2007

The Lead-Deadwood High School drama department will host Victorian Christmas Tours on Saturdays, December 8 and 15, 2007 at11:00 a.m., 12:00 and 1:00 p.m. at the Historic Adams House at 22 Van Buren Ave, Deadwood.  The event is open to the public, free to members and $5 per person for non-members.  Reservations are required; please call 605-578-3724.  Guests may park in front of the Historic Adams House or in the Sherman Street parking lot next to First Western Bank.

The Victorian Christmas Tour is a work of historical fiction, intertwining what may have been with the lives of real members of the distinguished Deadwood Adams family.   Guests on the tours will be guided throughout the historic home, moving from room to room as the holiday tale unfolds.  The LDHS drama department members include Miranda Glover, Hayden Waisanen, Thomas Emanuel and Danur Kvilhaug, under the direction of Barb Fosheim.  John Hammond, Adams House docent will play W.E. Adams.  Adams Museum employee Marilyn Allison adapted the play from existing performances, using historical research to enhance the characters, setting and storyline.  The Victorian Christmas Tour transports its audience to Deadwood’s golden years, a time of grandeur and holiday splendor, as experienced by its early citizens.

Victorian Christmas Tours are sponsored by the Deadwood Historic Preservation Commission, the Rapid City Journal, Gold Dust Gaming & Holiday Inn Express, Walter and Francis Green Trust Fund, Deadwood Gulch Resort & Gaming and Cadillac Jack’s Gaming Resort.
