Local Couple Forms a Non-Profit to Preserve Oak View.  Kick-off event is a Tea Tasting Fundraiser.  Brad McCracken, as co-founder of a non-profit corporation called OakView Preservation Incorporated (OVPI) (www.ovpi.org), is raising money to acquire and preserve a historic governor's mansion (Governor Allen, 1929) in Norwood, Massachusetts commonly known as Oak View.   

“We are very excited to be starting the process to acquire and preserve this fine home”, Brad McCracken, the CEO of OVPI says.  Oak View is a Second Empire home built in 1872 and is full of Massachusetts, National and International history.    OakView Preservation Incorporated, in cooperation with The Trustees of Reservations and the Bradley Estate (www.bradleyestate.org) in Canton, Massachusetts is having a Tea Tasting Fund Raiser on February 16, 2008 (just in time to get over the winter blahs!) at the Bradley Estate in Canton from 1 PM - 4 PM.  Space is limited to 100 tickets.   

Come enjoy fine teas for tasting, light finger foods and live classical flute and guitar by the musical duo, Two of Us, sponsored by Dedham Savings Bank.  There will also be door prizes donated by local merchants.   

“A true understanding of a building’s place in history is a powerful tool to promote its preservation,”  McCracken, co-founder and CEO says.  “Anytime people are motivated to engage and become emotionally connected to preservation is a good thing for conservation and preservation.  Preservation is at the core of our approach.”   Proceeds from ticket sales and donations will further OVPI’s mission to ensure the continued preservation and renewal of the historic governor’s mansion located in  Norwood, Massachusetts, known as Oak View, for the benefit and appreciation of the people of Norwood and beyond, while raising public awareness about historic preservation and fostering appreciation for arts and culture.
