Lighthouse Weekend Presentation at National Lighthouse Museum, Staten Island, NY..Celebrating Lighth

August 4, 2018

Lighthouse Weekend Presentations Screening of "Keepers of the Light" and a presentation by International Chimney Corporation. As part of the celebration of 2018 Lighthouse Weekend, the National Lighthouse Museum is excited to be able to present a screening of the documentary "Keepers of the Light". From whaling days to electrification, "Keepers of the Light" tells the story of evolving technology, heroism and shipwrecks, and the people who are called upon in each generation to keep the light, woven with the story of the recent race against time to save the historic lighthouse from falling over the edge of the rapidly eroding cliffs. Liz Witham, Director/Producer and Ken Wentworth, Filmmaker will be on hand to field questions about the documentary.

We are delighted to also have Joseph J. Jakubik, Manager, Historic Preservation Division of International Chimney Corporation on hand. Mr. Jakubik will speak about how ICC engineered the relocation of the Gay Head Light and will continue to play a central role in restoring the brick tower in the coming years. International Chimney has restored a number of lighthouses in the United States, including the Southeast Lighthouse on Block Island and the Cape Hatteras Light in North Carolina.
