Tiffany's Laurelton Hall
October 17, 2018 |
On October 17th, The Historical Society of Islip Hamlet will host author Monica Randall and her presentation on Laurelton Hall. Louis Comfort Tiffany, the master glass works genius, completed his hundred room Oyster Bay mansion in 1905. The stucco art nouveau showplace was unlike anything ever built before or since, designed by Tiffany without the aid of an architect. It hosted some of the most dazzling parties; huge walls of stained glass, lagoons and fountains flowing both inside and out into the lush, unique gardens. Many of the images presented are from a rare, private collection belonging to Tiffany's granddaughter, who was 92 when she shared them with Monica Come learn about this extraordinary home and its tragic fate. The program will be held at the Islip Public Library, 71 Monell Ave., 7:00 - 9:00 pm. The program is free and open to the public; refreshments. For more info,
