Basic Cemetery Conservation Preservation Woorkshop

A cemetery affair Day 1: Cemetery Conservator and Expert Robert Mosko, of Mosko Cemetery Monument Services will lead a full day lecture and classroom instruction on identifying the types of cemeteries and the unique features that make them what they are. The common types and styles of gravestones and burials that they contain. The most common styles and designs. The most common conditions encountered within cemetery hardscapes and landscapes and how to recognize and identify liability issues. Common causes and environmental related factors and weathering. Common treatments to include basic methods of documentation, cleaning methods and techniques, basic resetting and stabilization methods and techniques and when a professional should get involved as well as how to cost effectively find one.
Day 2: Will involve a summary review and hands field application recognizing the various types and styles of stones, weathering and various common conditions and documenting them. Assistance will be provided by Graveyard Keepers of Pennsylvania.
Day 3: Will involve the actual hands on addressing the conditions identified and documenting their treatments with the assistance of Graveyard Keepers of Pennsylvania.
This workshop is free of charge to all participants.
