Explore the influences and aesthetic ideals that evolved into the International Arts & Crafts movement during this presentation by Barbara Pierce and C.J. Hurley. In marked contrast to Victorian era architecture, our presenters will illustrate what inspired Arts & Crafts architects to unite their designs with nature and ultimately to “bring the outside in” through structure and decorative details.
Look at how Art Nouveau, Arts & Crafts, and Jugendstil were connected rather than separate art and architectural movements. This well-illustrated program will share historic examples and highlight how the tradition continues today in historic and contemporary homes.
Hurley, who is a Roycroft Renaissance Artisan, and Pierce operate C.J. Hurley Century Arts, which specializes in color and design consultation, historically-inspired hand-painted interiors, and fine art for historic homes.
This is an encore of their sold-out program delivered in November, 2005.
Pre-registration is strongly suggested, either at our website or using the form in the newsletter.
