Hacking Heritage Unconference

March 7, 2020

What we choose to preserve tells us more about what we value in the present than it does about our past.  That's why conversations about what to preserve and what to demolish are so fierce.  We can't save everything, can we? So what shall we save? Who gets to make these decisions? How does this effect you, your family, your community, your city, your state, your country and our world?

Hacking Heritage is a participant-led unconference that is open to anyone with an interest in exploring questions about community history, heritage and preservation together.  Proposed sessions can be discussions, but they can also be space for collaboration on a new project with new partners, a community art-making project or a group walk.  ¿Hablas español? Los participantes pueden proponer sesiones en español. Algunas sesiones también pueden tener traductores voluntarios.

The event is organized by the John Nicholas Brown Center for Public Humanities and Cultural Heritage at Brown University in partnership with many of the leading heritage, preservation, arts and community groups in Rhode Island.
