Legends of the Past Home Tour 2007

February 3, 2007

You're invited to tour the historic neighborhood where the first mango tree was planted. to view our unique and unusual 'castles' and discover the charm of this wonderful neighborhood tradition!

On Saturday, February 3, 2007 from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. Historic Northwood Hills invites the public to tour our featured homes which reflect the rich architectural heritage of the area. Each home will display its own unique architectural charm and will be enhanced by champagne, wine, and hors d'oeuvres as well as the warmth of our hosts and hostesses.

The tour will culminate at the dessert tent which will feature live entertainment, gourmet coffees and a Viennese dessert table amid one of the tropical gardens of the neighborhood!

Northwood Hills, which is home to a number of residences designed by society architect Maurice Fatio and disciples of Addison Mizner, was settled during the Florida land boom of the 1920's. Legend has it that the numerous 'castle homes', which dot the top of our very own 40 foot hill (the highest elevation between Orlando and Miami), were built by the rum runners with a clear view of the sea so they could direct their precious cargo to safety......Ahh..........the stuff legends are made of!!!!

This self-guided tour will take place rain or shine. All the homes are within walking distance, however, we will provide the "Northwood Hills Shuttle" which will be making stops through the neighborhood.

Underwritten in part by Fidelity Federal Bank & Trust, tickets are $25 in advance and $30 the day of the event.
