History Talks! Lecture: Mission San Diego de Alcalá

September 30, 2020
History Talks! Lecture: Mission San Diego de Alcalá
Founded in 1769 by Junípero Serra, Mission San Diego de Alcalá was the first of 21 missions in Alta California. Locally, with names like the “Padres” to “Mission Federal Credit Union” there is no doubt that the influence of the missions in San Diego is prevalent to this day.

Join us on September 30th at 7 PM as we bring our monthly “History Talks” Lecture series back to you virtually via Zoom! Our guest speaker Janet Bartel will tell us about the history of Mission San Diego de Alcalá. Janet has been a Volunteer Historian and Volunteer Docent Chairperson at Mission San Diego de Alcalá since 1984. She was part of the Mission San Diego 250th Commemorative Committee from 2017-2019, and the City of San Diego 250th Commemorative Committee from 2018-2019. Janet served on the California Missions Foundation Board of Directors from 2006-2015 and California Mission Studies Association Board of Directors 2003 - 2009.
