History Talks! The Gold Rush Town of Columbia California

November 18, 2020
History Talks! The Gold Rush Town of Columbia California
Travel back in time with us to the days of the California Gold Rush! Located in the small Sierra Nevada town of Columbia, Columbia State Historic Park preserves the historic district of a once bustling gold rush town. Unlike the many other gold rush towns of the region, Columbia was never modernized or destroyed, making it the largest collection of gold rush era buildings in the state. As we make our way through town, we will learn about the merchants who built it, as well as the townspeople who passionately campaigned for its preservation as a State Park in 1945.

Join us on Wednesday, November 18 at 7 PM and discover Columbia, “Gem of the Southern Mines.” Explore the rich history of this charming California Gold Rush town!
