Preservation Society of Charleston Announces 67th Carolopolis Awards
January 21, 2021 |
CHARLESTON, SC: On Thursday, January 21, 2021 at 7 PM at the historic and recently restored College of Charleston Sottile Theatre, the Preservation Society of Charleston will host the 67th Carolopolis Awards, presented by Carriage Properties. Expanding on its tradition of recognizing exemplary efforts in preservation, the Society will recognize a diverse group of 18 winning projects through this year’s program. This year’s challenges have allowed the Preservation Society to innovate our approach to hosting the 67th Carolopolis Awards, enabling our signature fundraiser to reach more people than ever before. Our change in venue to the College of Charleston Sottile Theatre will allow our patrons to gather under theatre-managed, social-distancing guidelines. A live-stream ticket option will also be available to Charleston residents and beyond, allowing you to join us in celebrating the best of preservation in Charleston from the comfort of your home. We hope you will take advantage of this exclusive and unique opportunity to engage with the Preservation Society and attend or tune in to the 67th Carolopolis Awards.
Advance tickets are $100 for in-person guests, $20 for live-stream viewers, and may be purchased at www.preservationsociety.org. Your ticket directly supports the mission of the Society. The 67th Carolopolis Awards is presented by Carriage Properties.
The Carolopolis Award was created in 1953 to recognize outstanding achievement in historic preservation. The presentation of a Carolopolis Award recognizes extraordinary private and public efforts to maintain the historic character and authenticity of Charleston and the Lowcountry. To date, the Preservation Society has presented more than 1,400 awards in recognition of such achievement. In 2016, the Society introduced new awards for the preservation of historic interiors as well as compatible new construction.
