I Love New York! Valentine’s Virtual Tour of Downtown Deco
February 13, 2021 |
Join the Art Deco Society of New York and celebrated architectural historian Francis Morrone for our special Valentine's tour celebrating how much we love New York's Art Deco!
Though most people associate New York's great Art Deco skyscrapers with midtown Manhattan––since the style coincided with the creation of Manhattan's new central business district––this exciting online tour features the over-the-top Deco gems of downtown Manhattan.
As you will discover in this engaging web-based illustrated talk, some of New York's most important Art Deco buildings are downtown, in the Civic Center and Financial District areas. You are sure to enjoy our in-depth look at two of Ralph Walker's masterpieces, 140 West Street and 1 Wall Street, as well as Clinton & Russell's 70 Pine Street and Sloan & Robertson's 29 Broadway. Our tour will also include notable non-Deco buildings from the 1920s and 1930s, such as 40 Wall Street. Mostly, however, we will comb the streets of the Financial District for lesser-known gems, such as Buchman & Kahn's 111 John Street and much more.
Get your ticket for this special tour today!
Even though this event is online, it will include a live PowerPoint—with wonderful images that you will be able to see directly on your computer screen, tablet, or mobile device—as well as a Q&A session with participants.
Can't join us at the time of the live event? No problem! Those who register will receive a recording of the entire program a few days after the live presentation. When you sign up for the program you have the opportunity to watch, or rewatch, the recording at a time more convenient for your schedule.
