Wright at the Museum: Francis W. Little House Drawings & Records At The Metropolitan Museum Of Art
February 17, 2021 |
As Avery Librarian Talbot Hamlin once said, architectural drawings have a “permanence that actual buildings do not always achieve.” In 1972, with the Francis W. and Mary Little House in Wayzata, MN, facing demolition, the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York acquired the property. It sold several interiors to other museums but preserved and installed the Living Room in its own building. The Met has recently expanded its collection of related materials including drawings and correspondence from the Little family. What can these documents reveal about this important but lost Frank Lloyd Wright masterpiece?
