Visit eight historically-renovated or near-original kitchens which blend past and present on this popular home tour sponsored by the non-profit Architectural Heritage Center. Several kitchens on tour this year showcase how homeowners can restore original cabinets and features – maintaining authenticity, while easy on the budget and the environment!
House styles run the gamut from the 1890s to the 1960s, Queen Anne to Craftsman to Mid-Century Modern. Tour goers will see how the kitchen has evolved over time from a predominantly utilitarian workspace to the center of family living. Homeowners will be on hand to share their experiences, whether they “did it themselves” or worked with a contractor – or both!
If you’re planning your own renovation or just love to see vintage homes, the Kitchen Revival Tour is a great way to explore Portland neighborhoods and sample the work of local contractors and craftsmen. Plan to allow several hours to see all the homes on this self-guided tour.
Pre-registration is strongly recommended– call 503 231-7264 or www.VisitAHC.org.

Owned and operated by the Bosco-Milligan Foundation, the AHC offers a wide range of education programs to help people appreciate, restore, and maintain vintage properties. Our constituents include:
- Enthusiasts of fine architecture, design, and craftsmanship.
- Owners of vintage homes and buildings– modest and grand– looking for resources and information to apply to their own renovation projects.
- Businesses and craftspeople serving the renovation market.
- History buffs interested in learning about the heritage of their neighborhoods.
- Urban environmentalists who want to preserve the unique character of the city and its neighborhoods– and reuse precious materials and workmanship that are difficult to replicate today.
