Cliveden Institute - "Building Up: Community Partnerships for Neighborhood Revitalization"

March 24, 2008

On Thursday, April 3rd, and Friday April 4th, Cliveden will host its 19th Annual Cliveden Institute.  The theme for this year’s Institute is “Building Up: Community Partnerships for Neighborhood Revitalization.”  The program will take place in the Carriage House at Cliveden, located at 6401 Germantown Avenue.

Brother Michael McGinniss, President of LaSalle University, will be the keynote speaker for the Institute.  His presentation, “Universities and Communities: Working Together to Foster Change in Urban Environments,” will focus on revitalization work that LaSalle University has done in their neighborhood.  The program will also feature a number of representatives from faith-based organizations including Dr. Katie Day, from the Lutheran Theological Seminary, and Elizabeth Terry, from Partners for Sacred Places.  Terry’s panel discussion, “Faith Transforming Neighborhoods” will also feature the Rev. Timothy Safford, from Christ Church, and Anna Guarneri of the Neighborhood Interfaith Movement.

The Cliveden Institute is made possible by private sponsorships and by the National Trust for Historic Preservation.  Cost for the event is $35 for both days and $20 for one day.  Light refreshments and a field trip included with the cost of admission.
