Peña Adobe Historical Society Celebrates Reopening!
August 7, 2021 |
The Peña Adobe Historical Society is reopening to the public with plans to hold Western Days, the first of its monthly open houses since the pandemic on Saturday August 7th.
The Open House will be held from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. and will feature performances by the Congressional Gunfighters of America, music by the Vacaville Acoustic Jammers under the direction of Terry and Leslie Cloper, tours of the Adobe with 5th generation family member, Cecelia Peña and demonstrations by Rush Ranch’s blacksmith Virgil Sellers.
The old west reenactors, the Congressional Gunfighters of America are dedicated to preserving Old Western history, specializing in live entertainment. They will host gunfight demonstrations, talk with guests about California’s early pioneer heritage, and answer questions about firearm safety.
The Congressional Gunfighters have been putting on shows and teaching California history for more than 10 years. The gunfighters name originated when early members of the group were talking about who would protect the president during the days of the Old West.
Join us on Saturday, August 7th, and meet the Congressional Gunfighters, listen to the music of the Vacaville Acoustic Jammers, and learn about Vacaville's heritage as you tour the historic Peña Adobe, and the Mowers-Goheen Museum.
The Peña Adobe Regional Park is located in picturesque Lagoon Valley off of Interstate 80 4699 Peña Adobe Road. The Peña Adobe Historical Society can be reached at 1-707-447-0518 or by e-mail at penaadobe@gmail.com.
