The Archaeology Channel International Film and Video Festival
May 20-24, 2008 |
The Archaeology Channel International Film and Video Festival opens its fifth season on Tuesday evening, May 20, 2008, in the Soreng Theater of the Hult Center for the Performing Arts, Eugene, Oregon, USA. Over the next four days, audiences will experience some of the world’s best films about archaeology and related topics, ancient cultures, and the incredible world of indigenous peoples. This film competition is a counterpart to popular European archaeological film festivals upon which it is modeled, but is the only juried event in its genre in the Western Hemisphere. Audiences will see some of the world's best heritage films and experience a few of the many wonders of the human cultural past. TAC Festival is produced annually by Archaeological Legacy Institute, and features a yearly Keynote Address by a leading authority in archaeology or related disciplines. The 2008 Keynote will be delivered by Dr. Donny George, former Director-General of Iraqi Museums and a leading authority on international antiquities. TAC Festival runs nightly through Friday, May 23, and all day on Saturday, May 24. Details and short clips of the 18 films being presented are available at archaeologychannel.org/content/TACfestival.shtml. |
