Montgomery County's 11th Annual Heritage Days
June 28-29, 2008 |
Montgomery County's 11th Annual Heritage Days is a two-day free public event celebrating the county's rich history. Come and visit as many of the 42 family-friendly sites as possible throughout the county that include children's activities, music, dancing, fun and food along with history. You can begin your day with a Colonial era Brunch at the Historic Comus Inn at the base of the Sugarloaf Mountain, or end it with an English Tea at the historic Gaithersburg Inn. You can also bring your own lunch and picnic at the Monocacy Aqueduct while listening to canal music. Children will enjoy the Denzel Carousel at the Glen Echo Park, participate in acting workshops, do crafts activities or play old-fashioned games at many of the sites. Everyone will love watching radio-controlled model airplanes fly. One can also visit the Riley House/Uncle Tom's Cabin, a Latvianan church, an arts and crafts festival, historic schoolhouses and African American churches. Participate in an Underground Railroad hiking trail or walk in the footsteps of Civil War Union soldiers. |
