Preserving DC and a Mies Masterpiece
April 20, 2022 |
Join us on Wednesday, April 20th for an in-person program at the Martin Luther King Jr. Memorial Library about historic preservation in DC and the Library's modernization!
2022 marks the conclusion of the DC Preservation League’s 50th-anniversary, and 50 years since the Martin Luther King Jr. Memorial Library was first opened to the public. To celebrate these milestones, join us for a panel discussion looking back at 50 years of historic preservation in the District of Columbia, and the efforts that shaped the journey of this Mies van der Rohe-designed building from its listing as one of Washington, DC’s Most Endangered Places to a state-of-the-art central library worthy of our world-class city. Following the panel, attendees will have the chance to explore the Library.
