Manzanar Living History Project with Kansha Pasadena and Pasadena Heritage
May 14, 2022 |
In collaboration with Pasadena Heritage and on the 80th Anniversary of Executive Order 9066, Kansha Pasadena is planning a Manzanar Living History Project to take members of the greater Pasadena community on a day-long bus tour to Manzanar. Many people are unaware of the injustices suffered by Japanese Americans before, during and after WWII. The program will have Japanese Americans tell their stories of the incarceration, discrimination and hardships they endured from March 1942 to November 1945. Upon arrival at Manzanar, the National Park Service will lead the group on a narrative tour of the concentration camp followed by lunch in the Manzanar Mess Hall. Space is limited, so seats will be reserved on a first come first served basis. If all seats are filled when you confirm, you will be placed on a waiting list and notified if space becomes available.
