Taught by NEDCC Director of Book Conservation, participants will learn about various surface cleaning methods that can be safely used to clean books and paper. Using a combination of lecture and live demonstration, the pros and cons and appropriate application of each method will be discussed. Each participant will receive a supply kit in the mail and will have the opportunity to participate in a unique hands-on experience. This class is appropriate for anyone responsible for the care of paper-based collections – no previous conservation experience is necessary. The registration fee includes supply kit and shipping. 

Participants who are eligible Certified Archivists earn 1 Archival Recertification Credit (ARC) through the Academy of Certified Archivists.
