West Queen Anne School: Landmark Recognition Plaque Unveiling and Open House
August 9, 2008 |
Historic Seattle and the Queen Anne Historical Society invite you to participate on Saturday, August 9, at the unveiling of one of an ongoing series of plaques to be placed in recognition of Queen Anne Hill landmarks. This plaque program was funded by a generous grant from the National Society of the Colonial Dames of America in the State of Washington. The building and a number of its wonderful units will be open to view. This historic school, which closed in 1981, became a national model for adaptive reuse of surplus school buildings when it reopened its doors to residents in 1984. Historic Seattle was instrumental in developing the lease/option agreement that allowed this condominium development to move ahead.
