Historic Preservation in Pasadena: ?Origins & Impacts

May 30, 2023

When Pasadena Heritage was founded in 1977, an aggressive redevelopment plan was starting to remake the City, spurred by the need to bolster a sagging local economy. As the plan began to be realized, historic buildings were demolished, neighborhoods were put at risk, the original downtown was slated to be scraped, and high-rise development loomed large in Pasadena's future. Alarmed by what was happening, residents came together to protest this vision and take action to turn the tide. What happened, how did a new vision come to be embraced, what changed and what difference does historic preservation make to today's Pasadena? This tale will be told in an illustrated talk by Executive Director Sue Mossman and Preservation Director Andrew Salimian on Tuesday, May 30.

Join Pasadena Heritage for this free program as National Historic Preservation Month comes to an end. Doors will open at the historic Blinn House at 5:30 PM and light refreshments will be served. The program will begin at 6:00 PM. This program is offered free of charge, but reservations are required, and donations are always welcome to support our historic preservation work.

Tuesday, May 30 | 5:30 PM - 7:00 PM
Program begins at 6:00 PM
Tickets: FREE (Registration Required)
