Playhouse District Walking Tour

September 2, 2023

Tour the Playhouse Historic District with Pasadena Heritage and learn the history, take note of the architectural detail, and leave with some exercise accomplished and some great new knowledge gained! Pasadena was settled in the 1870s along the Arroyo Seco. By the 1920s, the city had grown and was expanding to the east. The Pasadena Playhouse Historic District includes 34 distinctive historic buildings, including the renowned Pasadena Playhouse, demonstrating that eastward growth. Development at the time was spurred by the construction of Pasadena’s extraordinary Civic Center in the 1920s, prompting new residential, religious and cultural facilities in the District. This walking tour includes the Scottish Rite Temple, the United Artist Theater, the Pasadena Playhouse, the Professional Building (Pasadena’s only example of Gothic revival office building architecture) and the Bank of the West building, to name just a few. Our experienced docents will tell you the stories and point out details you may never have noticed! Join us!

Tours last approximately 1.5 hours with a walking distance of approximately 1 mile.

aturday, September 2nd | 10:00 AM – 11:30 AM
Tickets $18 members | $22 nonmembers
