Join Old North and burial ground expert John Hanson for a special program on October 22. John will show us around Copp's Hill Burying Ground, located steps away from the Old North Church, to discover the unique inscriptions on gravestones. These epithets convey highly personal messages that not only reveal a glimpse into the lives of colonial Bostonians, but also the literature that they read, the hymns they sang, and the poetry that moved them. These stones also can tell us a great deal about historic attitudes toward life, death, and eternity.

The program begins at 4:00pm with a tour of Copp's Hill followed by a reception with light refreshments. At 5:00pm, John will present a multimedia lecture in Old North's sanctuary that illuminates gravestone epithets through poetry, verse, and music.

Guests who donate $20 or more are invited to join us in person for the full experience. Those who only want to attend the lecture at 5:00pm (which is offered in-person or livestreamed) can make a donation of any amount.
