2008 Cultural Resource Planning Summit: Defining Cultural Resource Planning in the 21st Century
September 8-9, 2008 |
Preserving our connection to the past continues to be an enormous responsibility in today's rapidly changing world. Successful preservation efforts require integration of divergent approaches to research and sensitivity to the concerns of various conflicting interests.
Preservation of archaeological sites, graves, cemeteries and historic buildings is often a source of conflict, as State, Tribal and local governments approach resource planning from vastly different perspectives. However, it is increasingly evident that productive partnerships are required to forge a sensible cultural resource planning policy.
Come join your statewide preservation partners as we examine the issues and identify the solutions needed to chart an effective course for cultural resource planning in the 21st Century!
Special Work Session: Make plans to attend State Representative John McCoy's work session on human remains. Rep. McCoy and staff will gather input for use in drafting new legislation to improve the protection of graves and cemeteries. Your help is needed to shape the next round of legislative improvements! |
