Preservation Talk: Annunciation Greek Orthodox Church (Frank Lloyd Wright Building Conservancy)

June 27, 2024 |
Annunciation Greek Orthodox Church in Wauwatosa, Wisconsin, is a fascinating meld of Wright’s organic design principles and Orthodox tradition. One of Wright’s last built works, the church was commissioned in 1955 and completed in 1961. In recent years, the Conservancy has been working closely with members of the Annunciation preservation team to address the ongoing needs of the building. During this talk, leaders from the congregation who are involved in these efforts will discuss infrastructure work, including a significantly upgraded heating, ventilating and air conditioning system, a new fire detection system and exterior stairway restoration. Next phases will include the re-roofing of the church’s distinctive blue dome and restoration of the entry plaza.
