January 11, 2025 |
This richly illustrated talk launches ADSNY’s year celebrating the Centennial of Art Deco with a look back on how it all got started! Join a global audience as we explore the Exposition internationale des arts décoratifs et industriels modernes which opened in Paris in April 1925 and changed the world of architecture and design. In this virtual illustrated talk with architectural historian Kathleen Skolnick, we’ll revisit the seminal exposition that brought to the attention of a worldwide audience a dazzling new approach to design which would later become known as Art Deco. This talk begins ADSNY’s year celebrating the Centennial of Art Deco leading up to a worldwide gathering of Art Deco enthusiasts, convening this October in Paris for the 17th World Congress on Art Deco.
