Revolutionary Spaces: Slavery & Resistance in Colonial Massachusetts

May 28 - August 3, 2025 |
This summer, discover stories that have too often been left out of Boston’s revolutionary narrative. Slavery & Resistance in Colonial Massachusetts invites you to explore the realities of enslavement in New England and the powerful ways Black Bostonians pushed back—through faith, family, the courts, and collective action. From the voices of Phillis Wheatley and Belinda Sutton to the legacies that still shape our understanding of freedom today, this guided two-site tour reveals a more complete and complex picture of slavery in the "cradle of liberty."
Slavery & Resistance tours take place daily at 2:00 PM through June 15 and daily at 1:00 PM starting June 16. This 60- to 75-minute tour is free with joint museum admission or membership. Walk in the footsteps of those who redefined resistance through everyday acts of courage and changed the course of history.
