Léon Krier aimed his prodigious talent toward reforming detrimental building practices all over the world. His rich intellectual life engaged architecture in profound ways, embracing critical aspects of the built environment, including the relation between nature and the city, the knowledge needed for the making of the Good City, for composing an architecture that coheres into a distinct sense of place, and for an art of tectonics that ensures the long-term durability of buildings. His œuvre stands as an eminent system of thought; an elegant edifice produced by an elegant mind.  

In the course of his engaged and engaging intellectual life he encountered and intersected the intellectual lives of other architects like yourself, who, being kindred spirits, were also developing similar reforms in practice and in academia.  This resulted, after a vigorous exchange of ideas that has been on-going for four decades now, in nothing short of an international movement dedicated to traditional architecture and urbanism – a movement that is polycentric and multicultural in its scope. 

You are cordially invited to attend a conference and exhibition dedicated to the life and thought of Léon Krier to be held at the University of Notre Dame on the 23rd, 24th and 25th of November 2025. We suggest that guests arrive one day before the conference. We will be sending you information regarding hotels in the area as well as the conference schedule.
