Traditional Building Conference

March 24-25, 2026 |
The first event in the 2026 Traditional Building Conference Series
is Salem Massachusetts on March 24-25, where 400 years of architectural history
provides attendees with a living laboratory of learning and inspiration.
This two-day conference for architects, designers,
contractors, preservationists, building artisans and building owners will
deliver up to 13 AIA Continuing Education Credits, mostly HSWs, via morning
seminars and afternoon architectural walking tours. There will be breakfasts,
lunches and a cocktail reception for plenty of networking.
The House of Seven Gables (1668); The Gedney House (1665)
and the Phillips House (1821) will be on tours as will the Federal period work
of architect and wood carver Samuel McIntire (1757-1811).
Best practices for sustainability and historic preservation,
architectural drawing by hand, traditional design for new buildings and
historic millwork will round out the curriculum.
