The Fourth Annual "Katrina Artistically Revisited"

August 28, 2009

KATRINA ARTISTICALLY REVISITED is a 4th annual, one-hour midnight special event in New Orleans to commemorate the anniversary of Katrina "in memory of those we lost and to honor those who survived".

At the Landmark Canal Place Cinema Theatre, the producers of "Katrina Artistically Revisited", Patty Lee and Armand St. Martin, offer a respectful and unique artistic multi-media experience, free to the public.

This 2009 grassroots event includes original Katrina songs by Bruce "Sunpie" Barnes, Jay Chevalier and Armand St. Martin.

Barnes, a zydeco-music recording artist, has entertained all over the world in over 35 countries and will perform his powerful "Didn't It Rise".  Chevalier, a Cajun-music member of the National Rockabilly Hall of Fame, who is also the Official State Troubadour, will feature his Official Hurricane Recovery Song: "Come Back To Louisiana".  Piano-rocker St. Martin, who has recently served up music over 2 1/2 years after Katrina as a Ritz-Carlton-New Orleans entertainment staple, will showcase his "Orleans Lullaby" off his new CD "Katrina Anthem".

Katrina Artistically Revisited also features a short DVD film, "Stillness. . .the aftermath of Katrina" by award-winning photographer-producer Dennis Couvillion, with the soundscore by Dean Dupuy, Ramsey Mcclean and Armand St. Martin.

Additional program highlights include a photo film-essay on the big screen by the New Orleans Kid Camera Project headed up by Joanna Rosenthal and Ariya Martin, with a live music accompaniment by Armand St. Martin.  Additionally, a Trailer will be shown for "Katrina's Children," a documentary, courtesy of Executive Producer of the film, Richard Colton.

Opening photographs on screen will be various Katrina photos by award-winning photographers Mark Sindler of the Louisiana State Museum, Donn Young, formerly the official photographer for the Port of New Orleans, and archivist and writer Patty Lee.

Several guests are always invited to share their personal Katrina stories each anniversary eve, adding yet another dimension to this memorable multi-media, 4th Annual Katrina Artistically Revisited special evening.  - P.Lee
