The Displaced Mountain Folk and the Shenandoah National Park
March 30, 2019 |
When the Skyline Drive was built, hundreds of families were already living in the hills and hollers of those beautiful mountains. Darryl Merchant, Chair of the Warren County Blue Ridge Heritage Project, is a descendant of one of those families. He will tell the story of how it happened, and describe the way of life that disappeared in order to create the first national park on the East Coast.
This lecture is part of Heritage Day at the Warren Heritage Society.
