History Talks! San Diego: 1940-1960, War and Peace
WWII and the years following were undeniably a major turning point in our history. How, specifically, was our city affected? What was going on in San Diego during this pivotal era? What was it like for average, everyday locals?

Join us on Wednesday, February 19th at 7 PM for our next “History Talks!” Lecture with Roger Showley as he shows us a glimpse of San Diego during the WWII years and after through a collaborative collection of photos gathered from private collectors, the San Diego History Center, and the general public. If a “picture is worth a thousand words” imagine what this collection can tell us about San Diego during this era!

Roger Showley is a retired reporter for the San Diego Union Tribune a graduate of UC San Diego, and a third generation San Diego local. He has authored numerous books on San Diego history. This lecture will focus on his latest pictorial history book on San Diego covering the WWII years and the following decade of recovery and boom. Mr. Showley will be available to sign books following the lecture.

Special Location: Steps from the museum! The Regency room at the Horton Grand Hotel - 311 Island Ave, San Diego, CA 92101

History Talks! is a monthly lecture series presented by the Gaslamp Museum at the Davis-Horton House. Each month a local historian or specialist will delve into topics related to San Diego and the Davis-Horton House to bring a unique glimpse into the history of our city. Come hear history come alive!

Wednesday, February 19, 2020 at 7pm.  Lectures are free for GQHF Members, $5 for the general public.
