Registration is now open for Fall hands­-on preservation workshops.

Fall Historic Preservation workshops
Clatsop Community College
Historic Preservation Program
Astoria, Oregon

Learn traditional skills in short hands­-on weekend workshops. These workshops are open to anyone interested in preservation crafts.

BLD 223: Facade Restoration 
Students assess, document and restore/replace exterior siding and woodwork on historic Alderbrook Hall. The building, originally an early 20th Century Pacific- Northwest Bungalow Style fire station, is now a public Community Center. Students will learn techniques for structural repair, rot repair, siding and trim installation, and wood treatment.
Dates: Sat-Sun 10-11 Oct.& 17-18 Oct. 
Location: Alderbrook Hall 

BLD 128: Historic Trim Replication 
Students replicate historic trim using stock materials and shop tools. They learn terminology, types and components of trim. They use appropriate tools and techniques to fabricate millwork such as casings, moldings and baseboards. 
Dates: Sat-Sun 24-25 Oct.
Location: Overbay Houseworks, Warrenton 

BLD 226:Wood Window Restoration 
Students learn history and terminology, and gain knowledge and skills to document and restore historic wood windows. Historic wood windows are complex but inherently restorable. Windows consist of numerous parts with different materials. Students will be introduced to documentation methods, appropriate preservation standards, and the use of proper tools and materials for the restoration of historic wood windows.
Dates: Sat-Sun 14-15 Nov.& 21-22 Nov.
