Women in Preservation and Design
March 11, 2021 |
For Women's History Month, celebrate some of the femme figures who have made their mark on our cities, neighborhoods, and small towns. From nationally known figures like Louise B. Bethune, who was America's first professional female architect, to local icons like Helen Ellwanger, who founded one of the nation's earliest preservation organizations, the Landmark Society of Western New York, this class will explore the preservationists, urbanists, architects, and other designers who have shaped the built environment.
Age:
This class is appropriate for ages 18+.
Location:
This class will take place online through Zoom. Links for Zoom classes will be sent out by 5pm the day of the class. If you do not receive your link, please check your spam or submit an email through our contact page.
About the teachers:
Caitlin Meives, Tyler Lucero, and Christopher Brandt are members of the Young Urban Preservationists, an affiliate group of The Landmark Society of Western New York. The YUPs are an emerging generation of preservationists in the greater Rochester region dedicated to promoting inclusive, modern, and innovative preservation practices to help revitalize communities and our built environment. And we have fun doing it!
