National Lighthouse Museum, Staten Island, NY Presents a ZOOM presentation From NOVA SCOTIA
Sunday, March 14, 2021 at 2:00pm on Zoom

A WOMEN'S WORK is NEVER DONE – Women, Memory, and Lighthouse Keeping Virtual Lecture. In this performative lecture, Dr. Shauna M. MacDonald will share insights from her research about LIGHTHOUSES, FEMALE LIGHTHOUSE KEEPERS, and the kinds of stories we tell about our collective histories.

Dr. Shauna M. MacDonald is Associate Professor at CAPE BRETON UNIVERSITY in NOVA SCOTIA, where she teaches courses in performance studies, gender, and communication. A student of culture, she is fascinated by communication and ritual in extraordinary places and by extraordinary beings, including coal mines and cyborgs. For the last few years, she has been studying lighthouses as sites of cultural memory, with a focus on the gendered elements of those memories and how we share them. She is an artist, scholar, performer, and educator whose mission is to unearth, keep, and share stories.

$10 per Person • $5 for Museum Members
