Plan your summer adventure with HistoriCorps

May 2 - July 30, 2021

Plan your summer adventure with HistoriCorps! Explore all our 2021 projects on our website.

Mormon Lake Guard Station, AZ
May 2-7, May 23-28, May 30 – June 4

Third time’s a charm at this volunteer favorite! Mormon Lake is located just south of beautiful Flagstaff, AZ on the Coconino National Forest. This cabin has served as home base for wildland firefighters and forest rangers for generations. Sunsets over the expansive Mormon Lake promise to be unforgettable. Accessible for tent campers and RVs/trailers.

Sly Guard Station and Harvey West Cabin, CA
June 6-11, June 13-18, June 20-25, June 27 – July 2

History is everywhere around us, we just have to learn how to see it. Though both the Sly Guard Station and Harvey West Cabin are today available to the public as overnight lodging, they both have played a significant role in the history and evolution of the U.S. Forest Service Both are due for some HistoriCorps-style TLC! Accessible for tent and truck campers.

Red Mountain Open Space Schoolhouse, CO
June 27 – July 2, July 11-16, July 18-23, and July 25-30

Colorado is known for colorful, textured landscapes that continually amaze visitors with their diversity and history. This incredibly biodiverse area, strewn with impressive rock structures, streams, and grasses, has been home to humans for at least 12,000 years. The schoolhouse, our project’s focus, tells the story of more recent inhabitants. Accessible for tent and truck campers.

Buck Mountain Fire Lookout Tower, AZ
June 6-11, June 13-18, June 20-25, June 27 – July 2

Fire lookout towers like this one hold a special place in American history. There are few experiences that inspire awe in the landscapes around us as much as climbing a mountain, mesa, or fire tower. Enjoy the view on this project, and know that your work will serve not only the forest’s past, but its future. High clearance vehicle required to access the site; tent and truck campers only.
