National Trust for Canada - Annual Conference: The Heritage Reset: Making Critical Choices

October 20-22, 2022

After two years of virtual events, the National Trust Conference 2022 (with the Canadian Association of Heritage Professionals and the Indigenous Heritage Circle) is back on the ground with an in-person event in Toronto, October 20-22 (Chelsea Hotel). Join over 500 attendees at Canada’s largest gathering of the heritage places sector: from professionals (emerging and established), craftspeople and volunteers, to developers, planners, heritage site operators, academics, and students. Connect with your peers or next employer at the trade show, build your skills in dynamic sessions and workshops, get behind the scenes at exciting Toronto projects, and take part in the heritage reset discussion!

Societal shifts accelerated by the global pandemic have drawn into question many values, structures, and public policies in Canada, including those guiding heritage conservation. Now is the time for realignment and concerted action. Combining learning sessions and goal setting discussions, National Trust Conference 2022 will focus on three heritage sector renewal themes:
- Social-Cultural Reset – Embracing a Fuller Story and Confronting Exclusion;
- Environmental Reset – Championing Heritage Conservation as Climate Action; and
- Economic Reset – Overcoming Systemic Barriers to Reuse & Asserting Heritage as a Progressive Force

Are you a volunteer with a historic place or heritage organization? Apply for the John Edwards Conference Bursary for Heritage Volunteers to receive complimentary conference registration, including your travel and accommodation costs. Deadline to apply: July 31, 2022.
