The Warren County Historical Society invites you to experience
the holidays of yesteryear at the Victorian Christmas Open House on Friday,
December 2nd from 6:00-8:30PM. The
feeling of Christmas will fill your senses with the sights and sounds
throughout the historic Struthers-Wetmore-Schimmelfeng House. Decorated by the
Warren Garden Club, the atmosphere will transform you back to Christmases of
years gone by.
Enjoy refreshments while listening to the
lyrical sounds of the talented Youngsville High School string orchestra as they
play holiday pieces in the spacious front parlor. The music of John Bowler will
add to the ambiance as he plays an antique parlor guitar in the upstairs
Victorian parlor. Children are invited to string popcorn, an old-time Christmas
tradition, as they sit around one of the many Christmas trees. As a special
treat, guests will have the opportunity to meet local authors Josh Cotton and
Marcia Kleinert.
Visit
the gift shop area and discover some intriguing new books recently added to our
inventory this season. In addition to the new books, we are offering a holiday
cookbook, “Through the Years: A Collection of Warren County Recipes,” which
will also be available for purchase. It highlights our county’s culinary
history, with recipes from local cookbooks housed in the Historical Society’s
library. We also have playing cards,
Kinzua vanity plates, DVDs, coloring books and more.
