Telling the Art Deco Stories of Our Neighborhoods: Brighton Beach
Saturday, June 24, 2:00 PM - 4:00 PM
No need to bring a bathing suit, but you might wish to don sunglasses and a wide-brimmed hat for our walk through this distinctive Brooklyn neighborhood, which began as a popular seaside resort boasting a luxury hotel, a music hall, and a race track. Alas, those features no longer exist, having given way, beginning in the 1920s, to glorious modern apartment houses. Today, Brighton Beach is rich in Art Deco treasures to be seen first-hand on this revealing walk tour guided by architectural historian Matt Postal.
And after indulging in a visual feast, feel free to check out the numerous Russian and Ukrainian restaurants that dot the area.
