Wed, April 22nd, author Bill Bleyer will discuss Long Island’s pivotal role in the American Revolution.  The Battle of Long Island was the largest single-day engagement of the war and a devastating defeat.  Learn about the harsh realities of the British occupation and brought years of hardship for its residents.  This talk sheds light on the local impact of a global conflict and the resilience of Long Islanders during a defining chapter in American History.  The program will be held at the Islip Public Library, 71 Monell Ave., 7-9 pm, and is free and open to the public.  For more info, 631-559-2915, www.isliphamlethistory.org.
