Historic real estate agent from Charlottesville, VA

Agent Profile
Ross Langhorne Stevens was raised in Western Albemarle on a cattle farm at the foot of the Blue Ridge Mountains.  He currently lives in a restored and enlarged historic log house on the Moorman’s River at Sugar Hollow, near the reservoir and the Shenandoah National Park.  His primary professional focus is on land, farms, estates, and distinctive, historic properties, but he is also quite active in the residential marketplace.

The Stevens family heritage is deeply based in the real estate profession.  Ross’ great uncle, William T. Stevens, founded Stevens & Company in the 1930s but even back at the turn of the century, his great, great, great uncles were selling Albemarle properties.  In 1927, Ross’ other great uncle, Donald G. Stevens, promoted and developed Farmington Country Club while William T. Stevens developed the Bellair subdivision.  Ross’ father, Noel Stevens, was also a successful Stevens & Company associate, representing musician, Art Garfunkel, in his purchase of Edgewood and handling the sale of Jefferson’s Poplar Forest to a University of Virginia medical alumnus.  Today, Ross applies a century of insight and knowledge acquired in the family business to his life and profession.

Ross has been active in the real estate business since 1990 and obtained the Associate Broker designation in 2000.  He is recognized by the National Trust for Historic Preservation as a member of the Historic Real Estate program.  This new program helps realtors encourage stewardship of historic properties by their clients.  Additionally, Ross has been a member of the Charlottesville Area Board of Realtors Education Committee and a member of the Appraisal Committee for Albemarle County’s Acquisition of Conservation Easements.  Finally, he has participated in organizations including the National Trust for Historic Properties, Virginia Historical Society, Albemarle Historical Society and Preservation Piedmont.  Ross has always been passionate about preservation of Central Virginia’s historic architecture and conservation of its rolling pasture land and foothills.

Ross has represented buyers and sellers of fine homes, farms and land throughout the Commonwealth of Virginia for twenty-seven years.  Let his valuable knowledge and local experience benefit you in your next purchase or sale.
