The Maryland Historical Trust (MHT) is seeking to hire a full time permanent Chief of the Office of Research, Survey, and Registration. The Maryland Historical Trust (MHT) is the state agency dedicated to preserving and interpreting the legacy of Maryland’s past. Through research, conservation and education, MHT helps the people of Maryland understand their history and cultural heritage. Part of the Maryland Department of Planning, MHT serves as Maryland’s State Historic Preservation Office (SHPO) under the National Historic Preservation Act of 1966.

The main purpose of this leadership position is to direct, manage, plan and supervise the activities of the Office of Research, Survey & Registration (ORSR), which is one of the four major operating units of MHT, and is responsible for the identification, documentation, and evaluation of historical and cultural resources in three sub-programs: Architectural Research, Archaeological Research, and Cultural Resource Information Management. The unit includes the National Register of Historic Places, the Maryland Inventory of Historic Properties, and Medusa, Maryland’s online cultural resource information system.
