The Fitch Foundation is now accepting proposals for its 2026 funding cycle. Applicants may apply for one of two available grants: the FITCH Mid-Career Fellowship and the Robert SILMAN Award. Proposals must be submitted by December 15, 2025 at 6PM EST.
Since 1989, the James Marston Fitch Charitable Foundation has been in the vanguard of historic preservation practice and theory. The mission of the Fitch Foundation is to support professionals in the field of historic preservation, and to achieve this we provide mid-career grants to those working in preservation, landscape architecture, urban design, environmental planning, materials conservation, decorative arts, architectural design and history, and allied fields.
FITCH MID-CAREER FELLOWSHIP: One research grant of up to $15,000 may be awarded to a mid-career professional who has an academic background, professional experience and an established identity in one or more of the following fields: historic preservation, architecture, landscape architecture, urban design, environmental planning, architectural history and the decorative arts. The James Marston Fitch Charitable Foundation will consider proposals for the research and/or the execution of the preservation-related projects in any of these fields. View eligibility details and more.
ROBERT SILMAN AWARD: One award up to $15,000 may be awarded to an engineer, architect or other design professional in a related field for a proposal exploring the preservation, restoration, or adaptive reuse of the built environment, in the spirit of Robert Silman (1935-2018), a longtime Fitch Foundation trustee and leading expert in structural engineering, historic preservation, and sustainability. The proposal must advance the art and practice of preservation in the United States. View eligibility details and more.
