The Oregon Arts Commission announces $1,087,000 in 99 grants to Oregon arts organizations. The total FY2010 awards are distributed through the Commission's Operating Support, Arts Services, and Arts Learning programs. "Oregon's creative capacity continues to emerge as a building block for the state's aesthetic and economic health," said Ron Paul, chair of the Arts Commission. "The Arts Commission is delighted to support deserving endeavors in all parts of the state."

"The Arts Commission is investing in the work of 92 dynamic arts organizations across the state," said Christine D'Arcy, executive director of the Commission. "We expect our grants to be matched with more than $116 million in other funds, supporting hundreds of permanent jobs and providing significant stimulus to the Oregon economy. From Enterprise to Oregon City, Hood River to Jacksonville, more communities appreciate that the arts strengthen community and stimulate business. We're delighted to make this level of investment with both state funds and federal funds from the National Endowment for the Arts."

The Commission's Operating Support grants provide funds for the artistic and administrative budgets of Oregon's leading arts groups. The program recognizes artistic excellence as well as the role that arts organizations take in the broader social, educational and economic areas of community life. Grants for Arts Learning support the arts as a powerful link to educational achievement and overall learning, contributing to Oregon's development of a 21st century workforce. Arts Services grants provide operating funds for local and regional arts councils and other groups working to make the arts accessible in all parts of Oregon.  A list of the grant awards can be obtained at www.culturaltrust.org
