Boulder, Colorado, April 1, 2011 – Today Adventures in Preservation joined GlobalGiving’s Open Challenge, a fundraising challenge for non-profits whose work spans the globe. Adventures in Preservation will also be competing for a permanent spot on GlobalGiving’s website, www.globalgiving.org, the internationally recognized marketplace for philanthropy that connects individual donors to the causes they care most about.
GlobalGiving is opening up its network of donors and corporate partners in an effort to support non-profits like Adventures in Preservation that are developing creative solutions for pressing problems.
“The GlobalGiving Open Challenges represents a great opportunity for us to raise funds for our restoration project in Gjirokastra, Albania. That project, in turn, represents the opportunity for the residents of the poorest country in Europe to build a brighter future based on sustainable heritage tourism”, said Judith Broeker, AiP’s program director.
Open participants will raise funds through www.globalgiving.com from April 1 to April 30. The three projects that raise the most will receive awards of $3,000, $2,000, and $1,000, respectively; the project receiving the most individual donations will receive an additional $3,000.Organizations participating in the challenge will earn a permanent spot on the GlobalGiving website if they successfully mobilize supporters to raise $4,000 from at least 50 unique donors through GlobalGiving during the contest.
If Adventures in Preservation wins, it will also gain free access to invaluable fundraising tools and a broad network of thousands of donors and corporate partners already engaged in the GlobalGiving network.
Adventures in Preservation is a non-profit organization committed to saving the world’s architectural heritage by supporting community-driven preservation projects that seek to create economic and environmental sustainability.
