Traditional Arts Apprenticeship Program Looking for Applicants
Historic Preservation Blog from PreservationDirectory.com - Oregon Folklife Network at the University of Oregon, Traditional Arts Apprenticeship Program

Traditional folk arts such as dance, embroidery and fiddling aren't taught widely in schools, so it falls to experts to pass on their skills outside mainstream classrooms. One such program is the Traditional Arts Apprenticeship Program, which teams Oregon mentors with people eager to learn such arts as Southeast Asian dance, Mexican-American embroidery, Americana fiddling, African-American gospel singing, saddle making and rawhide braiding for working cowboys, Native American basket weaving, or Northwest logger poetry.

If you are interested in applying to the TAAP Program, go to:
http://ofn.uoregon.edu/programs/traditional-arts-apprenticeship-program

Applications must be post-marked by Sept. 1, 2011.

The program is administered by the Oregon Folklife Network at the University of Oregon. For more information, contact Emily Afanador at 541-346-3820 or ofn@uoregon.edu.
